I was invited to try the new holiday menu at Red Robin Restaurants. I was excited to try out their new gourmet burger just in time for the holidays at the Garden Grove location. You will be happy to know that Red Robin has 9 locations throughout Orange County and I have listed a few of them at the end of this post. What I really like about the locations is that they are all located next to a shopping center, so you can enjoy a great meal coupled with some shopping if you choose to do so. There are also televisions and a bar area located inside the restaurants so you can enjoy watching a sports game on television. It is family friendly in the dining area or you can enjoy the game with a couple of friends in the bar area.
I really like how Red Robin’s menu suggests certain drinks to couple with some of their menu items. I also really like how the restaurant carries my favorite alcoholic beverage which is the Angry Orchard crisp apple cider. There are also an array of soft drinks available for those that don’t drink alcoholic drinks and specialized drinks such as their gingerbread shake, available for a limited time only.
The highlight of our meal was the Billion Dollar Baby Gourmet Burger. This gourmet burger is made with 100% black angus beef on a toasted ciabatta bun, topped with peppered bacon, a golden-fried potato cake, a creamy truffle-flavored cheese blend, melted Fontana cheese, mayo, shredded romaine lettuce and grilled tomatoes. This burger which comes with endless fries will cost you $14.69. My friend Karen really enjoyed it and said it was packed with flavor. I agree that it was full of flavor and what stood out to me was the ciabatta bun and the potato cake inside of it. The potato cake really was the magic touch to this delicious burger.
I love how Red Robin offers a variety of gourmet burgers to choose from their ever changing menu. If you would like to try the Billion Dollar Baby burger, then hurry in because it’s only available for a limited time.
After we sampled the gourmet burger, we had room for a lighter entrée to satisfy our cravings. I chose to try the Banzai salad which is a salad with citrus-ale dressing, teriyaki chicken, grilled pineapple, mandarin oranges, shredded carrots, parsley and almonds over mixed greens. This course will cost you $10.79 and comes with a side of garlic toast. I am very picky when it comes to salads so I took a long time to decide which salad to try out. The first thing I noticed when I ordered this entrée is that the salad was already bursting with flavors from the teriyaki sauce and the fruit so I made sure not to add a lot of dressing. I would highly suggest that you skip the dressing on this salad because the teriyaki sauce alone adds a lot of flavor and without the dressing, it’s less calories of course. The dressing was good, but honestly the salad did not need it.
My friend Karen decided to try the Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Wrap which is a wrap that centers around Southwest flavors that include a tasty spinach tortilla, grilled chicken with tangy Whiskey River BBQ sauce, Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tortilla strips and a touch of ranch. This course will cost you $10.49. My friend Karen is a huge fan of ranch dressing which she added to her gourmet burger and to her wrap. She really liked that it came with a side salad and only ate half of her wrap because she was stuffed from the gourmet burger and bottomless fries.
One thing we both noticed from our visit to Red Robin Garden Grove was that the service was great. The waitress did a great job bringing us additional plates in a timely manner and checked in with us quite a few times to make sure we were okay. I note this because the Garden Grove location is in a bit of a touristy area next to some large Anaheim hotels close to Disneyland. When we went in for lunch, the dining area was quite busy for a weekday. It’s great to know that no matter how busy it gets, the staff will make sure you get the high quality service you deserve.
The last time I was at Red Robin I shared the top 5 reasons to eat at Red Robin, and I would highly recommend going in to try out one of their gourmet burgers. You are sure to get a high quality burger with signature ingredients. If you feel that it has too many calories, then I would recommend sharing it with a friend. I will be returning in the future because of their delicious food and excellent service.
