Joy is in season at Knott’s Merry Farm! Every year since 1985, the park gets transformed into its Christmas event known as Knott’s Merry Farm. This year my family and I were invited to celebrate the holidays at Knott’s Berry Farm and what a treat it was! Until now, this was my family’s first time experiencing Knott’s Merry Farm. We were so amazed at how many fun holiday activities there was to do!
Christmas in Calico – Calico Town Hall and Ghost Town
‘Simplicity at its best’ is what we noticed Knott’s theme was when decorating for their holiday event. The holiday transformation and attention to detail were very impressive. I loved the classic decor of wreaths hung up on the doors, garland lined the buildings and the poinsettias planted throughout Ghost Town and Calico Town Hall.
Merry Christmas, Snoopy! Ice Show- Charles M. Schulz Theatre
We were excited to catch Merry Christmas, Snoopy ice show as we heard so many great reviews about it. It was very entertaining and my entire family enjoyed it. My 11 year old, Aalyssa, was in awe as she saw the ice skaters gliding on stage and of course, Snoopy was a hit for my little ones.
A Christmas Carol or The Gift of the Magi- Bird Cage Theatre
The Bird Cage Theatre is home to two classic Christmas stories that come alive in a wonderful production.
It’s the Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown- Calico Mine Stage
Due to the rain, “It’s a Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown” at the Calico Mine Stage was cancelled, but I was able to snap a beautiful photo of the stage and can’t wait to catch this show on our next visit. There are a few other must-see shows you won’t want to miss throughout the park. So make sure to grab a show times guide for performance dates and times.
Christmas Crafts Village- Ghost Town
Filled with dozens of local artisans selling their unique gifts, Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village, transforms into a shopping wonderland. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift or stocking stuffers this is definitely the place to find it.
The Christmas Crafts Village is open every day of Merry Farm, November 19 – January 8 (All of Knott’s Berry Farm is closed Christmas Day).
Free admission to the Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village is available Mon-Thurs Nov 21-Dec 8.
Knott’s Berry Farm theme park admission is required for entry into the Christmas Crafts Village after December 8.
Calico Tree Lighting Ceremony- Calico Park
‘Tis the season to be jolly and gather around the electrifying Christmas tree and experience the colorful lights come alive during the Calico Tree Lighting Ceremony. The kids were in awe waiting with anticipation for the entire tree to light up. It was so cute hearing my almost 3 year old son, Nico, counting along with the countdown.
Santa’s Christmas Cabin- Wilderness Dance Hall
Our family favorite was definitely Santa’s Christmas cabin. As soon as we entered, the entire cabin resonated of holiday cheer and Christmas spirit.
My kids were so excited and couldn’t decide what delicious treat they wanted to indulge in first. We literally were kids in a candy store, Santa’s cabin, to be exact! The cabin had family-style benches to relax, drink and enjoy our tasty treats. There were so many different stations that appealed to our entire family.
My son went straight for Santa’s homemade milk and cookies, while my 11 year old daughter enjoyed customizing her own hot chocolate with her freshly baked gooey chocolate chip cookies. She added her own toppings to her hot cocoa from marshmallows, sprinkles, candy cane bits and whipped cream, it’s like Christmas in a cup! My 7 year old daughter was in winter wonderland heaven! She made sure to go to every station to get her yummy treats. She enjoyed her Christmas cupcake, her Snoopy shaped cookie with her cold glass of milk.
I tried their seasonal mouth-watering pastry which was a delicious strawberry tart and I paired it with the traditional egg nog. If you’re not craving milk, hot chocolate or coffee, you can try their hot spiced holiday wine, port or seasonal craft beer station, just like my Hubby did. He enjoyed his cup of port with some warm roasted pecans and almonds.
Before we left, I couldn’t pass up the chance to try their famous jams and jelly station. My favorite was their famous boysenberry jam.
Of course we couldn’t leave without snapping a family photo with the jolly fellow himself, Santa Claus. My kids were able to tell Santa Claus what they wanted for Christmas and get a jump start on their wish list.
We had a wonderful time at Knott’s Merry Farm and we highly recommend adding it to your list of events to attend this holiday season. We can definitely see this becoming a new family tradition for us.
