Shiver me timbers, Pirates of the Caribbean is back!

We were invited to El Capitan Theater in Hollywood this week to see the advance screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, out in theaters May 26th. WOW! It had amazing special effects, the action was on point and the comedy was witty. And of course Johnny Depp delivered an award-winning performance.

This was my first time visiting this theater and I was so impressed by all it’s beauty and detail. Walking into the theater, we were greeted by a Pirates of The Caribbean backdrop, which made for a perfect photo. They also had a Captain Jack Sparrow LEGO masterpiece! Upstairs there were glass cases full of memorabilia of movies that have been shown at El Capitan theater, this was awesome too look through. While waiting for the movie to start we were able to enjoy a live organ player that played many different Disney tunes. The organ player made his grand exit by being lowered under the stage floor, but not before playing “A pirates life for me!”. Definitely made waiting worth while and a memorable experience. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!

As I made my way around the theater I made sure to walk downstairs to view some of the Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales props, costumes and more. This was incredible for me to look at because it brought the film to life. I practically wanted to take some of these props home with me and redecorate my home. Who wouldn’t want this awesome compass as a conversation starter?

El Capitan Theatre is such a great spot, situated in front of the walk of fame where you can take pictures of yourself, and family, with the stars belonging to some of your favorite celebrities. Once you’re done with the film, take some type to visit the Ghirardelli Shop for some souvenirs and a chocolate sundae. It’s also a great spot for people watching!

Parking is available across the street at Hollywood and Highland. There’s also plenty of eateries available nearby if you decide to grab a meal before the film. Arrive early as it does tend to get packed.

Wondering where to sit? Well, there really isn’t any bad spots in the theatre. We do suggest the front row in the balcony level because it gives you a bird’s eye view of the organ player.
