I’m always up for a good burger, but only if it’s chicken or fish. I haven’t had any red meat for a few years now so I don’t normally visit a good burger joint; but just passing by The Habit Burger Grill you can tell that their burgers are delicious because you can expect to wait in line for up to 15 minutes during their busy lunch hour. I went there on a Friday around 12:30pm and it was pretty busy, and then I went again on a Sunday around 12pm and it was busy again, but the line moved superfast! The location in Santa Ana across the street from the Main Place Mall has indoor and outdoor seating. The first time I went, we sat outdoors and the second time I took it to go.
I was excited to try their new golden chicken sandwich which is a “fresh, filleted chicken breast hand-breaded with house-made seasoned flour and buttermilk. It is then fried to a juicy golden brown and topped with creamy, spicy red pepper sauce, crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes and tangy pickles on a toasted soft bun.”
The Golden Chicken Sandwich will cost you $6.25 and you can make it a meal for a bit more. I tried the Golden Chicken Sandwich with two of my best friends and all three of us enjoyed it very much. My friend Barbara said that “it was so juicy I had to use three napkins at a time.” She also said it was “the best chicken sandwich I ever tasted.” I very much enjoyed the spicy red pepper sauce because it gave it a slightly spicy flavor but not overpowering so anyone who is doubtful of something being too spicy can still enjoy it. The chicken sandwich was also such a large size that we had to share some French fries among the three of us because the sandwich itself filled us up and we had barely enough room for the fries.
Other items that were taste tested included the sweet potato fries, the chicken nuggets kids meal, and the Charburger meal. My sister also tried the vanilla cone which only costs $1 and she said it was really creamy and good. My dad tried the Charburger meal which is the official hamburger and includes fries and a drink. The Charburger meal will cost you $7.15 but let me just mention, come hungry because they are very generous with their fries serving and they also have a large variety of drinks which includes sodas, teas and lemonades. They also offer shakes and malts with flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, mocha and coffee. My sister liked the chicken nuggets kids meal because she wasn’t that hungry and she enjoyed it with some ranch dressing. The kids meal comes with either a charburger, chicken nuggets or grilled cheese sandwich and will cost you $3.99. I would also recommend the sweet potato fries that cost $2.80 and are delicious without any toppings.
Next time I go to The Habit Burger Grill, I am going to try the albacore tuna filet grilled sandwich which is a “line-caught, sushi-grade tuna steak with a teriyaki glaze, crisp shredded lettuce, fresh tomatoes and homemade tartar sauce.” This sandwich will cost you $6.99. Who says you can’t go to a burger joint and not have a burger?
Overall, my friends and family really enjoyed trying out the variety of flavors found at The Habit Burger Grill and we didn’t mind the wait because the food was delicious and fresh. The prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend The Habit Burger Grill for lunch or dinner. I especially enjoyed the location in Santa Ana because of their outdoor seating.
