5 Things to do at Knott’s Spooky Farm 2017

We headed to Knott’s Spooky Farm this weekend as their guests and had a blast. It had been years since we last went and I was shocked. Knott’s Berry Farm has made this event better each year. I recall everything being located in Camp Snoopy, now it’s spread through out the entire park. At the entrance the niños received their Halloween bag and map of all the activities. We decided to try out each of the NEW activities. With our bags and map in hand we took on Knott’s Spooky Farm.

5 Things to do at Knott’s Spooky Farm 2017

Camp Spooky

Our first stop was Camp Spooky. This use to be our original spot for Halloween at Knott’s Berry Farm. We love the window decor designs of The Great Pumpkin from the Peanuts gang. All of Camp Spooky is decorated with pumpkins and scarecrows. It is a great family-friendly area with non-spooky decor and just plain fun rides. The Monster are Coming, Charlie Brown show is a must watch and their costume contest is great. Kids gets to dance and hang out with the Peanuts gang while the audience cheers them on. Costume winners get a gift and join their Peanuts friends in a dance party. It gets packed so arrive early to get seats. Camp Spooky is the best place to get photo ops with the Peanuts gang all dressed up. Lines go by fast, which is always great.

Ghost Town

Now onto the trick-o-treating, which is what the kids really wanted to do. The trick-o-treating stands are all in Ghost Town. As soon as you enter the spooky decor is all over. I loved all the great photo-ops with the old buildings decked in spiderwebs, jack-o-lanterns and huge spiders. The candy didn’t last long in their bags. I let them indulge right away as long as they gave mamma some. Another fun thing to do in Ghost Town is to push the buttons of the doors and see what happens. At the jail you can speak with the inmates which the boys thought was cool. Ghost Town has town’s people who walk around during the day chatting up with visitors. The ghost and witch are non-spooky characters to get awesome pics with the kids.

Livery Stable

Right in the middle of Ghost Town is the Livery Stable. During Knott’s Spooky Farm they have live creepy animals for kids to interact with. The skeleton horse is beautiful and great for petting. Thank goodness the spiders and tarantulas are not for petting but great to give you the creeps. The rats are for petting or looking from afar. The large yellow python surprisingly enough is for petting, if you dare. The Livery Stable is exactly what Knott’s Spooky Farm is all about, a little creepy with a whole bunch of fun.

Timber Mountain Log Ride: Halloween Hootenanny

The log ride is a fan favorite at Knott’s Berry Farm all year long and now for Spooky Farm its has been overhauled. It is a family friendly spooky time while going through the caves and meeting their creepy guest. Beware of the green witch or the Calico Coffin Creeper band. The exterior is covered with jack-o-lanters and fall decor. This is a great ride for a older kids looking for bigger thrills compared to Camp Spooky. Just beware the drop is still heart stopping, even the adults will scream. There’s a reason that it’s an oldie but goodie all year long.

Dia de los Muertos

I was thrilled that at Fiesta Village they have Dia de los Muertos activities. It has been awesome to see how mainstream culture has embraced one of our holidays so well. Dia de los Muertos is non-scary holiday, and instead celebrated the lives of our loved ones who have passed. Knott’s Spooky Farm did a great job in representing the holiday properly. Little picturesque houses offer activities for kids like decorating an altar or playing with cempasuchil (marigold) flowers. A great spot to grab a seat while kids run through the village learning about Dia de los Muertos.

Knott’s Spooky Farm is open every weekend in October. It offers a great alternative to their nightly Knott’s Scary Farm. No scares, only family friendly Halloween activities. These activities are all included in your general ticket to Knott’s. If you are a season pass-holder, this event does not require a separate ticket. Knott’s Spooky Farm is open from 9-5pm. and they close sharply since Scary Farm starts right afterwards. Definitely a great event for Halloween and best part you can enjoy the entire park. Don’t miss out, only two weekends left plus Halloween day to enjoy Knott’s Spooky Farm.
